Public Meeting

Venue - Councl Offices, Lanark
Date - Wednesday 14 November 2001
Time - 7pm - 9pm

Over 60 people attended the Public Meeting. The programme had 3 main aspects, namely a celebration of the Picture of Health Walks. 7 quaichs were presented to the identified walkers. John Scott, Chief Executive of Scottish Enterprise Lanarkshire, sponsored the walks and attended to present the quaichs.
Over 350 throughout Clydesdale participated.

Cheques were presented to:

Clanalba, Universal Connections, Stanmore and Williams Syndrome.

Following the presentation the public meeting continued with 2 actors portraying ordinary people affected by drugs which lead appropriately to the real life experience that Ailsa Gaunt shared with all present leading to the development of afamly support group. Questions were skillfully and knowledgeably answered by Councillor Eileen Logan, Superintendent Marshall Pretswell, John Moore [Universal Connections], Jim Gillen [Drugs Awareness Officer] and Valerie Tallon [Drug Development Officer].

Clydesdale United recognised that this is only the start of a long process and was pleased to provide the opportunity for all concerned to meet, voice their opinions and work the the professionals to tackle this devastating problem.

Walk Up To The Douglas Windmills

Created on 1st of April 1999, Clydesdale Local Healthcare Co-operative (LCCH) aims to tackle the causes of ill health by combining the efforts of all 10 Clydesdale doctors practices and community staff, including social work, schools, voluntary agencies and local people in healthcare planning.
